Building off our 2009 pilot program, we’re excited to announce the 2010 Mentorship Program for Young Leaders Group members.
Mission
The mission of the mentor program is to foster an exchange of professional ideas, friendship, and expertise among young real estate professionals and industry veterans.
Structure
Each mentor group shall consist of 5-7 Young Leaders Group members with an interest or experience in similar product types. Each group is lead by one Mentor and assisted by one YLG coordinator, who is responsible for scheduling meetings and coordinating with mentees. Beginning in May 2010, mentor groups will be expected to meet 4x-6x throughout 2010, for 1.5-3 hours per session. Meetings can include: lessons learned from mentors’ careers, discussions on 5 year, 10 year or lifetime plans, case studies, social events, project tours, guest speakers, or anything else mutually agreed upon to further the relationship among the group.
Commitment
Both mentors and mentees should be committed to the Mentor Program in order to create the type of atmosphere necessary for success. All mentees must sign a memorandum of understanding, pledging 100% attendance, to be considered for the program.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is absolute, in all ways and forever.
Coordinators
Coordinators play a crucial role in the program by acting as a liaison with the Mentor, scheduling meetings, working to keep the group focused, and providing feedback to the Mentorship Committee. The coordinator does not have to be responsible for the content of all meetings but should ensure that the group continues to meet on a regular basis and that each member of the group is contributing. The role is crucial to taking the scheduling work off of the mentor's hands and keeping the group together. If you think you would be interested in this role please check the appropriate box on the registration form. To apply to be a mentee in the 2010 Program, please submit the following items in Word or PDF form to Nikki.Lowy@ULI.org by Friday, April 9, 2010 COB.
